Microsoft will soon update PCs with an outdated version of Windows 10

Microsoft has sent out a warning to all Windows 10 version 21H2 users that their PCs will be forced to upgrade to version 22H2. Version 21H2 was released back in November 2021 and its support expires on June 13. For the user this means that no more updates including security patches will be released for this version.

To protect users and improve the security of their devices, Microsoft will launch a forced update to Windows 10 22H2. This applies to the “Home”, “Professional”, “Pro for Educational Institutions” and “Pro for Workstations” versions.

Microsoft did not specify exactly when they plan to launch the forced update process. On June 13, 21H2 will receive its last monthly security update – we should probably expect a forced update shortly thereafter.

Users of computers that are compatible with Windows 11 are being advised by Microsoft to upgrade to the new version of the system instead of upgrading to Windows 10.

Microsoft previously announced that 22H2 will be the last version of Windows 10, and its support will continue until October 2025.
