YouTube introduces a test ban on ad blockers

A screenshot has appeared in the YouTube community on Reddit that hints at a ban on the use of ad blockers when using the YouTube service.

The banner specifies that ads allow billions of users around the world to watch YouTube for free. If the ads are annoying, it’s worth subscribing to YouTube Premium so that content creators can continue to make a profit.

The author of this post doesn’t specify whether he was able to close the banner and continue to use the YouTube service without disabling ad blockers, and whether the banner appeared after the page update.

We also managed to contact an employee of the YouTube service, who confirmed that this is only an experimental version so far, but could not get any additional comments.
